RE: Support Real Economic Stimulus
With America in the midst of an economic downturn,
Congress is right to be considering plans to
stimulate the economy. But it is important that
Congress pass real measures that will result in true
economic stimulus.
While some of our leaders are rightly talking about
alleviating the tax burden on hard-working American
families, liberals are already talking about putting
more tax dollars into failed welfare programs – that
would be a grave mistake.
Thankfully there are some legislators in Washington
that still want to enact real solutions to our
nation’s economic problems. Congressman Jeb
Hensarling and others are demanding that any
stimulus package must also include an extension of
the 2003 tax cuts and further tax cuts for job
producers in this country.
The American people want long term solutions.
Hensarling’s proposals must be included in any
stimulus package. Moreover, the American people do
not want economic relief held hostage. Wasting our
hard-earned tax dollars on failed social programs
should not be a condition of passing a stimulus
package. Government give-aways do not provide relief
to the middle-class or help revive the economy.
Sincerely,

When President Bush proposed an economic stimulus package we thought that was what we were getting -- an economic stimulus package.
But then our Republican leaders decided -- yet again -- to "COMPROMISE."
Amazing isn't it. When conservatives had the majority in Congress, liberals didn't compromise. They stood firm and obstructed legislation at every turn.
So why do our elected leaders see the need to compromise now?
The late-great Senator Barry Goldwater told us about compromise when he said:
"[E]xtremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue."
So now that our elected leaders have reached a compromise, on this economic stimulus package, what do we have?
Let's have a look.
When the stimulus package was first proposed several days ago, the American people were told that TAXPAYERS would get REBATES of
up to $800 for individual taxpayers and $1600 for married couples.
But now, according to the Associated Press, $28 billion -- that's 28,000,000,000.00 -- will go to people who never paid taxes in the first place!
Giving a rebate to people who have actually paid taxes so they can keep more of their money is not necessarily a bad thing... we don't need to tell you that.
Here's what Congressman Jeb Hensarling said:
"It is clear that hard working families in America are struggling to make ends meet and that the economy needs a boost. Conservatives know that it is never a bad time to let families keep more of their own money. We are, in fact, the ones who have been leading that charge in Congress. We agree that now is an especially good time for family tax relief given rising energy, food, and tuition costs..."
But simply handing out $28 billion dollars... that's not economic stimulus... that's not tax relief... that's a welfare entitlement!
Hensarling goes on:
"
... Democrat leaders and candidates continue to talk about enacting a massive tax hike to pay for increased government spending. Raising taxes to fund a temporary package intended to grow the economy is akin to taking a bucket of water from the deep end of a pool and dumping it into the shallow end... under no circumstances can a stimulus package begin to carry Democrat spending proposals that have thus far languished. Now is the not the time to induce our entitlement crisis to explode
even further."
Let's be totally and brutally frank for a moment. Times are tough and while government give-aways may appear compassionate, people need real solutions to real problems... not political pandering and government giveaways!
Government give-aways do not provide jobs, relief to the middle-class or help revive a sluggish economy!
What they do, is allow politicians to buy votes... using YOUR MONEY!
But there is hope to provide some real solutions because Hensarling is proposing legislation that will provide real economic stimulus, create jobs, boost the economy, increase government revenues and provide families with much needed tax relief!
And that's why we need to support Hensarling right now!

Holding Permanent Tax Cuts Hostage...
Extending what essentially amounts to a welfare entitlement is not the only problem with this so-called economic stimulus package.
Conservatives wanted our Congressional leaders to put an extension of the Bush 2003 tax cuts -- which are set to expire soon if we don't act now -- on the table.
But liberals in Congress are holding tax cuts hostage!
Ken Strickland of NBC reported:
"Democrats also appear unified that 'the number one obstacle' to quick action would be Republican efforts to extend the president's [2003] income tax cuts... Schumer, the No. 3 Senate Democrat, said renewing those cuts 'should be off the table, because they will thwart any chance of passing a stimulus package.'"
And that's the wrong way to go.
Hesarling again:
"History shows us that the best way to provide an economic turnaround, preserve jobs and spur economic growth is to ensure that job creators face a lower tax and regulatory burden... nothing would help our economy more than making permanent the tax relief that is soon to expire... Now is the not the time to induce our entitlement crisis to explode even further."
So what's the bottom line?
Simply put, if we want a real economic stimulus package... we're going to have to fight for it, right here and right now.

Cutting Taxes Helps The Economy. The Liberal Lie That Government Needs To Raise Taxes Was Put To Bed Long Ago!
Liberals have always known that tax cuts jump-start the economy.
President Kennedy fought for a tax cut as soon as he got into office. So did President Reagan! So did President Bush!
The Democrats also know -- or should know by now -- that when you cut taxes, TAX REVENUES INCREASE AND THE DEBT GOES DOWN!
Kennedy proved it! Reagan proved it! Bush proved it!
Pete duPont gave wrote about this principle in the Wall Street Journal:
"This truth has been proved at both state and federal levels, including by President Bush's 2003 tax cuts on income, capital gains and dividends. Those reductions have raised federal tax receipts by $785 billion, the largest four-year revenue increase in U.S. history. In fiscal 2007, which ended last month, the government took in 6.7% more tax revenues than in 2006. These increases in tax revenue have substantially reduced the federal budget deficits. In 2004 the
deficit was $413 billion, or 3.5% of gross domestic product. It narrowed to $318 billion in 2005, $248 billion in 2006 and $163 billion in 2007. That last figure is just 1.2% of GDP, which is half of the average of the past 50 years."
Liberals in Congress could read those figures over and over again, and their rancid brains would never process them. That's why they're against making President Bush's 2003 tax cuts permanent -- the ones that saved us from the Clinton recession.
They'd rather try to buy your vote than help you!
Remember one thing: politicians don't oppose tax cuts because they love people.
They raise taxes because they believe they can spend it better than the folks who earned the money... folks like you who work hard and pay taxes.
And they spend your money because, in the end, it gives them more power... the fact that they accumulate power on the backs of folks like you and me means nothing to them!
